The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
